Describe your game. Beeloop Engine builds it.

A desktop app for making 2D games with an AI design partner. You talk it through; it writes the design, draws and animates every character and place, lays out the levels and builds a game you can play.

“I want a cozy idle game where you run a car rental lot next to an airport. Cars come back dirty, so you wash them, fuel them and rent them out again.”

For Apple silicon Macs. Also for Intel Mac or Windows. Version 0.2.0 beta 14, free, and it updates itself.

It starts with a conversation

Tell the design partner what you want to make. It asks about what's missing, then writes the game document that everything else is made from.

Runs on your own Claude

The talking and the writing happen on your Claude plan. Beeloop Engine only charges for pictures and animation.

The gameWritten from your answers

Turnkey is an idle game where the player manages a fleet of rental cars: My Perfect Hotel meets a car rental lot.

  • For players who like cozy tycoon games they can play in short sessions and watch run themselves.
  • Why they'll play: doing every job by hand at first, then watching the lot hum along on its own.

CharactersWho they are, how they talk

  • Marco Ruiz Ex go-kart champion, 22. Loves driving, any car, any distance.

  • Dot Okafor Former flight attendant. Chatty, remembers every regular's name.

  • Lou Brennan The lot's mechanic for 20 years. Gruff, few words, secretly soft.

Game document

Down to the details

Characters and what they say, items and shops, enemies, levels and sounds. The art is drawn from what the document says.

Draw the cast, then make them move

Every character gets a concept sheet first, in your game's look. Its sprite and all of its moves are drawn from that sheet, so it looks like itself everywhere.

Concept sheets

Front, side and back

Remake a sheet until it's right. Everything after follows it, from the sprite on the board to the last frame of a run.

Animation

Moves from video

Idles, walks, runs and actions come from short video clips, cut into frames that loop cleanly. Top-down characters get every move facing front, side and back.

Build the world, then play it

Buildings, props and tiles are drawn at their real size in the game. Lay out the levels, play as you go, and build it for Mac or Windows when it's ready to share.

Turnkey's airport lot. Every building, car and person on it was drawn and animated in the app, and the people walking it use their own walk cycles from the game.
  1. Lay out the levels

Place the buildings, props and tiles you've made, level by level.

  2. Play as you go

Play the game in a window whenever you like, then keep changing it.

  3. Build it for Mac and Windows

When it's ready, the app builds a standalone game you can send to anyone.

What it costs

The app is free. The design partner runs on your own Claude plan. Pictures and animations are paid for with a monthly plan or with credits.

Plans have a daily and a weekly allowance; credits never expire. Art that fails to come out costs nothing. Choose a plan or buy credits from your account.

Questions

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel chip, or a PC with Windows 10 or 11, and a Claude plan for the design partner.

What kinds of games can I make?

2D games seen from the side, from above or at an angle: platformers, top-down adventures, and management and idle games like Turnkey.

Where do my games live?

On your computer, in a folder you choose. Each one is a whole game project, not a file locked inside the app.

Can other people play what I make?

Yes. The app builds your game for Mac and Windows as a standalone app you can send to anyone.

Is it finished?

It's in beta. It updates itself, and new versions come often.

Start with one sentence

Tell the design partner the game you want, and build it from there.
